Andrea Bocelli's "My Christmas" ~ An Emotive Album to Embody the Passion of the Season!

One click of the mouse and a divine deluge of sonorous notes washed over the Christmas light soaked room and sent a shiver of halting emotion shooting up my spine. My arms tingled with pin-pricks of feeling, my eyes shimmered with threatened tears of irrational internal upheaval, and my heart beat quickened with a gamete of emotions. What could possibly evoke such a dramatic reaction of the physical and emotional being? Love? Yes love, but no rather I am speaking of the muse which is a true representation of love--music, specifically the resonating voice of Italian Tenor Andrea Bocelli.

Andrea Bocelli has once more teamed up with Canadian composer David Foster to execute possibly the most elegant, classic, and emotionally charged Christmas album of the year Andrea Bocelli's "My Christmas"!
I became mesmerized and moved by the aesthetic and passionate voice of Andrea Bocelli years ago the first time I heard it. The first time one hears those rich heart-rending tones one cannot help but feel their soul has been exposed, their senses revealed.

The magic of the holidays, the heightened sense of love, peace, and tradition is what Christmas albums should embody. The holidays are a time for indulgence, rich foods, an abundance of generosity, and music which resonates--"My Christmas" is the embodiment of the emotions of the season! From popular Christmas favourites as "Jingle Bells", and "Silent Night" to the more religious traditionals such as my all time favourite "What Child is This?" No album could pluck the heart strings with such staccato and awaken joy and wonder of the holiday season like "My Christmas".

"My Christmas" features duets with the amazingly talented Natalie Cole, Mary J. Bilge, Katherine Jenkins, Reba McEntire, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and yes, even the Muppets! The songs I personally found most impressive, hauntingly rich, and powerful without hesitation, Bocelli's duet with Mary J. Bilge "What Child is This"--absolutely stunning, and duet "I Believe", sung with Welsh light classical-popular crossover singer, Katherine Jenkins, which deserves special note as pretty, delicate, and stirring! Another personal Christmas essential "Cantique De Noel" the traditional French rendition of "O Holy Night".

"Adeste Fidelis" and "Angels We Have Heard on High" add an element of the joyous and the operatic while "Jingle Bells" with the Muppets and "Here Comes Santa Clause" add appeal for the younger crowd. "My Christmas" offers it all!

Romantic, inspirational, and euphoric, Andrea Bocelli's emotive "My Christmas" will be playing in my stereo over the holidays as my husband and I curl up together with a glass of wine or perhaps a cup of hot cocoa in front of a blazing fire, bathed in the warms of the firelight and the melodic sounds, rekindling the passions of Christmas!

You too can rekindle the passions of Christmas and experience the resonance of Andrea Bocelli's "My Christmas" because one lucky Northern Mama reader will receive a copy of "My Christmas"!

  5. My favourite Christmas carol has always been 'What Child is This'. If you watched the special Saturday evening on PBS, you would have heard it done by Andrea and Mary J. Blige. A truly outstanding version!
