I am a cold water washer! Whenever I know I can get away with washing in cold it is all I do. I know washing in cold saves energy which is both cost effective and environmentally responsible but finding a green cleaner that works well in cold water can be problematic. When I lifted my free review bottle of Sunlight from its box I was intrigued. Not only is it unbelievably concentrated, requiring very little detergent per load, but the bottle states it works in cold water! I was ecstatic! Upon opening the lid my olfactory sense was met with the awakening and fresh scent of citrus and I knew then that I would be won over…so long as Sunlight Green Clean could pass the ultimate test: cleaning the soiled clothing of my ragtag crew!
Sunlight Green Clean’s rays of light shone through my testing. My family's clothes came out clean and smelling fresh. It is amazing that such a tiny small bottle can literally handle the same 32 loads as the larger leading brand bottle of green detergent that currently sits alongside it on my laundry room shelf. No compromises! But don’t take just my word for it. Sunlight Green Clean was voted Best New Product of 2010 by Canadian Living Canadian Consumer polls! Why? Because consumers do not have to compromise clean clothes for a clean environment. Sunlight Green Clean uses plant-based ingredients, is chlorine free, and biodegradable. Using it in cold water makes this detergent more energy-efficient and--with less packaging and a cleaner production process--Sunlight is working to create the best eco-friendly product it can and the most effective.
Concern for the environment is not a new concept for Sunlight. In 2006 Sunlight launched Sunlight Small and Mighty as the first national three times concentrated laundry detergent. In 2007 Sunlight began the Sunlight Eco-Action Kids Awards to support the environmental contributions of young people to their communities. Sunlight has made a commitment to environment which allows individual consumers to do the same.
I love the scent, I love the clean, I love my environment friendly wash! And so can you! Get a $2.00 coupon from Sunlight but even better Sunlight would like one Canadian Northern Mama reader to receive a year supply of Sunlight Green Clean! WOW!To Enter:

Ah my nightmare laundry story.. well.. It actually happened 2 months ago. Some how my dad contracted the Norwalk virus from my mum's work [old age home; the virus was making its rounds be he popped in to drop off a tea for her and wasn't told of the virus so he could ahve touched anything and than touched his mouth or somethign lol. oh well].
ReplyDeleteMy sister brought the kids over the day my dad started feeling crappy and by noon he was hunkered down in the bathroom.. well long story short we all got sick within 2 days and lived the nightmare. Christening clean towels and sheets with puke every 10 minutes bleh.
After it was all said and done I was up to my thights [literally] in dirty laundry of all sorts wearing long dishwashing gloves so I didn't catch the virus again. I spent 12 hours straight washing, drying and folding laundry.
All I can say is thank god for sunlight green clean detergent! [the smell didn't provoke nausea like tide and other brands whilst we were ill plus afterward it got everything super clean, woohoo!]

My fiancé recently moved in, and honestly, we have spent the last three weeks doing three loads of laundry per night...who knew two pack rats that hate laundry could rack up such a pile...I'm afraid the years supply of detergent might not last that long around here!

ReplyDeleteI use cold water for washing 90% of the time, but with (ahem) another product. I don't always get good results. Guess that's why I should switch to SUNLIGHT GREEN! Thanks for the coupon, but I'd love to win the year's supply!

ReplyDeleteA nightmare laundry story is sort if what i have lol.
ReplyDeleteWe were doing laundry yesterday but since we live in an apartment and we don't have a washer and dryer we went to the laundromat and we had put all of our clothes and we were about to start them, when we started one of the machines, after a minute or so of starting it, it started smoking badly! and the place started to fill up with smoke, it smelled like an electrical fire. It was scary and it kind of took me by surprise, i never expected that to happen!

here is my nightmare laundry story- one day when my sons' were only 3 and 2 I left them upstairs playing while I went downstairs to get the laundry from the dryer. My oldest son has high-functioning Autism and potty training was only just beginning. I was minding my own business in the laundry room and I hear my oldest son coming down the stairs to see me. He walked in the door and I saw poo. Lots and lots of poo. On his hands, on his clothes and in chunks on his feet.
ReplyDeleteI grabbed my son and removed his disgusting poop filled clothes and cleaned him up in the laundry sink.
As we started to go back upstairs I realized there were poopy footprints on the carpet and poopy handprints on the walls... from the basement laundry room all the way to his room upstairs on the opposite end of the house.
I was freaking out by the time I got to his room and found an open poopy diaper on his bed and the poop smooshed into every single blanket, stuffed animal, pillow and sheet.
I called my husband and made him come home from work so I wouldn't completely lose my mind.
I was cleaning poopy things for days.
Laundry has never seemed quite as bad since that experience :)
