MoZella Belle Isle ~ CD Review and Giveaway

A bit of sultry, a bit of fun MoZella's unique sound offers a refreshing alternative to the rote, cookie-cutter pop music which often inundates the market. Her latest CD Belle Isle arrived in stores at the end of October thanks to Universal/Motown!

I am a true fan of songwriters! There seems to be a depth to the music of singer/songwriters the combination of perhaps someone singing something they are truly invested in, music close to ones heart produces an innately genuine sound. MoZella is a talented song writer and her original, raspy vocals are discernible and appealing! Smooth yet smokey, fun yet bluesy there is no doubt why Universal/Motown Records signed this rising star. Pursuing her music by singing in coffee shops at night MoZella's hard work and pursuit of her dream paid off. MoZella's voice has been a recognizable icon after she sang the uplifting "Magic (Oh Oh Oh)" for the Droid Verizon commercial campaign!

I was drawn by MoZella's authentic, unique, and confident sound, the infectious and almost retro Motown sound of "Freezing" and retro rock back beats of songs like "Luvsik", and the sharp-witted lyrics. From this retro sound to the soulful notes of "Twilight Girls" to the hip modern beats of "Let's Stop Calling it..." and "4 Leaf Clover", the best descriptive word I can call to mind is "Authentic"--and thankfully there is a real, fresh alternative to formula pop!
My absolute favourite tune on Belle Isle is "Freezing"! Funky, original, and catchy, with a hint of retro Motown, and the deep dig of jazzy and bluesy influences it appeals to ones gut instincts and hits squarely ones soul.
