Iams is providing animals with a Home 4 the Holidays!

We've supported Iams for years! It's all our dog has ever been able to eat. Our giant teddy bear of a dog, Aleutia, has graced our lives for 11 years now and though she has given us a few headaches over the years she has also brought us great comfort and joy! A Husky--Alaskan Malmute cross we bought her as a puppy from a sled dog owner but our cat, Jarre--also an Iams pet and a blessing--is a shelter cat and we are strong supporters of finding homes for poor dispossessed pets such as she! Our lives would not be complete without our furry family members and life is not complete for any pet without people to love them!

Iams not only maintains a reputation for being a leading source of quality pet food but for the past 11 years has been dedicated to finding homes for the displaced and dispossessed pet population through the Iams Home 4 the Holidays campaign. What began in the US as a collaboration between Iams and the Helen Woodward Animal Center working with 14 San Diego area shelters has now become the most successful pet adoption program in the world and includes over 3500 shelters and animal rescue organizations! When an idea is this good it inevitably will spread like wildfire!

Canada is now celebrating its 5th year of campaigning for Home 4 the Holidays in partnership with the Canadian Federation of Humane Societies (CFHS), Swiffer and Febreze.! 110 Canadian shelters from coast-to-coast are participating in this year’s program which commenced October 1st, 2009 and will run until January 4th, 2010. More than 15 countries now participate.

Advocated by Academy Award Winner Hilary Swank Iams Home 4 the Holidays has garnered amazing support. Last year 1.2 million pets found loving forever-homes in North America through this program and this years goal is to exceed those expectations and place 1.5 million pets--no longer lost, no longer forgotten! Swank has personally rescued her two beautiful dogs Rumi and Karoo so she understands well the unconditional love these wayward animals have to offer.
