"Where There's Trouble There's Hope!" ~Trouble Review and Giveaway!

One child can make a difference! When Kendra Duncan lost her father, grandmother, and dog to cancer Kendra followed her grandmother's sage advice, "When Trouble finds you...Be Tough!" But in time of personal tragedy when even most adults would be overwhelmed by pain and grief, this young 12 year old girl transcended tough. She decided she could help others weather the storm of their troubles and be tough too!

What began as a simple drawing of a black-eyed pup named Trouble became an inspiration. This little pup sprouted a personality and for Children with cancer, dogs with no homes, and anyone suffering loss or a little turmoil of their own Trouble became a "guardian angel" of the canine persuasion! Kendra's original concept soon adorned necklaces, bracelets and key chains sported by kids at the Hasbro Children's Hospital. These charms of hope inspired children struggling with cancer to strive to be tough, to endure, and to survive! But Trouble soon transformed into an even greater comfort, a plush toy just right to provide troubled children and adults alike with a much needed hug!

Thanks to the help and support of Kendra's aunt Sheila Duncan, and illustrator Annette Nicolas, soon Kendra's little pup Trouble was introduced to a whole new audience! Sheila penned the book "Here's Trouble" acquainting the world with the tale of an abandoned gray puppy, with one black eye, who found himself left in a cardboard box amongst some trash cans in New York City.

This little gray pup has stolen the hearts of many including my youngest daughter Bronwynn. Though not ill Bronwynn too feels the power of Trouble's love and believes in the magic Trouble possesses. Since Trouble arrived only a week ago, he has helped comfort Bronwynn and abate her night time fears and I believe he will be a great friend to her during the transition when we have to move in the spring. A velvety, soft dog with mischievous eyes, and a giant black nose to rub, Trouble has a soul which awakens a smile from the lips of all who hold him.

Trouble has gone international and Kendra and Sheila Duncan have high hopes that soon Trouble will have his own animated show and spread hope and resilience globally!

A girl, a dream, and a dog have proven a simple idea and a generous, compassionate heart can make all the difference to those for whom "being tough" means life itself! Kendra and Trouble have donated to many children's organizations and to the SPCA. They have also had a hand in rescuing many wonderful dogs, finding them forever homes filled with love!

  1. I think it's an awesome idea/concept. I know there are times when I need a hug but don't necessarily have to words to talk to another human being about my troubles. Kids must experience this to an even greater extent. I remember talking to our dog as a kid or to my teddy bears too. I love this dog.

  3. It is a good idea I just don't know how well it would "work". Kids do have great imagination but I know when I was a kid, I would have not used this at all.

  4. Sweet idea for older children to apply to stuffy as a security blanket. I might have used this as a 4 year old perhaps?

  7. I think trouble is a good idea for small children who may need a friend in hard times. The fact that a child thought of the idea says it all! I hope the t.v. show idea gets off the ground I'd like to see it.
