It is the dream of many young girls! The opportunity to float with grace and elegance across a stage, a star, a dancer, a prima ballerina. I recall the daydream, I vicariously placed myself in the scenes of Ballet Shoes, I clumsily recreated my own renditions of pirouettes, and jetes with little knowledge of what I was endeavouring to do, but
Prima Princessa presents Swan Lake is a wonderful introduction to the world of ballet. Young girls preparing to enter dance, young girls already enrolled in beginner classes such as my daughters, and those who may never have the opportunity to attend formal classes will learn not only the basic movements of ballet dancing and terminology through footage from the School of American Ballet but also experience the beauty and tradition of a performance by the Paris Opera Ballet of Swan Lake.

A bright animated fairy Prima Princessa is the perfect guide for giggly, frilly tutued little girls.
Prima Princessa Presents Swan Lake reminds me of Baby Einstein when the ballet steps are introduced between segments of Swan Lake, incorporating text and visual clips to reinforce the concepts of each step and teach ballet terminology. Because this DVD features only excerpts of the Paris Opera Ballet's Swan Lake performance with dance breaks between them the DVD holds children's attention much better than a full performance would. I actually found the explanations during the Swan Lake acts sophisticated for parents and yet helpful for children unfamiliar with watching ballet and unfamiliar with the Swan Lake story. Created by moms and one of an entire series ballet has never been so enjoyable! My 6 year old Bronwynn was listening and watching the Swan Lake segments with intensity then danced through the intermissions!

Educational, fun, and filled with girlish delights
Prima Princessa Presents Swan Lake is ideal for darling little dancing divas. Perfect for infants to 6 year olds {and perhaps beyond} this DVD perpetuates the ballet dream and gives girls the chance to don dancing shoes and connect performance, art, and activity!
Be sure to find the adorable colouring pages and other ballet information on the
Prima Princessa website and give your delightful dancers this DVD! One Northern Mama reader will
win a copy of NCircle Entertainment's Prima Princessa Presents Swan Lake!

I learned that "Attitude" is a ballet term - Attitude: The working leg is raised, bent from the knee at an angle of 90 degrees and turned out so that the knee is at the same level as the foot. This position can be done from the front, side, or back.
